The website for Beverly Knight ART + BUSINESS needed to be clean and easy to navigate, with an emphasis on the artworks and artists that Beverly represents.
After designing the logo and brand elements (see project) I then worked on creating a website that could feel more like an exhibition brochure than a digital work. This in turn encourages casual browsing of the information and works included. The heavy use of white space and offset elements, in conjunction with muted colours and simple, sans-serif font Nimbus, puts all the emphasis on the beautiful, bold artworks on display.
I wanted the user to feel calm upon arrival and then build on that to make for a user experience that leaves the visitor feeling refreshed and optimistic. This was in large part inspired by my visits to Beverly at her gallery in Fitzroy (Alcaston Gallery) which offers such a welcome respite from the chaos of Brunswick Street.
